Youth Voices in Focus is a visual storytelling project using Photovoice. This year, we invited young people to speak boldly and honestly about youth mental health. Through the creative process of Photovoice, they used photography and narrative to explore personal experiences, community struggles, and the power of expression. Photovoice offers youth more than just a way to share images; it gives them a platform to express their truth, reflect on their experiences, and be heard in ways that matter.

This year’s Photovoice theme highlights Youth Mental Health, featuring powerful images and stories from the Frederick Youth Council, Boys & Girls Club, Exito, and other young voices. Youth responded to one essential question: “What are the mental health needs of youth in your community?” Their images are not just art. They are answers. They are advocacy.
